SCBC Alumni | Isaac Mbedzi – Class of 2019

After graduating SCBC, Isaac attended Curtin University studying a Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management & Economics. Isaac further completed Diploma’s in Building and Construction and Built Environment before taking up his current role as Contracts Administrator / Project Manager in the Construction (Civil/Commercial) Sector, with Steelworks Construction and Karak Construction.

A path he feels was inspired by connection with teachers like Mrs Felicity Barnabas, Mr John Scott, and Mr Simon Watts who with others, advised him to pursue a people-centric career. Enjoying subjects that had tasks/projects with a lifecycle, like MDT, Isaac discovered he loved designing and construction, which led to Construction Management.

His Career allows him to work with various professionals and oversee projects from idea inception to handover and maintenance stating

“I get to talk (a lot), lead, design, build and deliver infrastructure for communities. I’m grateful to South Coast and its Teachers for guiding me to a career I thoroughly enjoy and am passionate about.”

Issac’s core highlights include the Football Academy of which he reminisced “from the 2018 UK Trip, daily training sessions, matches, and the camaraderie among us, lifelong friendships were formed, and I look back on those years fondly. It wasn’t just the football that stood out, but the memories and friendships made along the way. With great coaches like Matt (Brook) and Chris (Thackray), it was a fantastic place to develop both as a person and a player.”

Another highlight for Isaac were the teachers stating “All my teachers were great and personable, which made classes interesting and something I often looked forward too. Something I found to be common to all the teachers was that they always had time for students, which allowed me to form great connections with them.”

Highly driven, Isaac has both short-term and long-term Career Goals, involving continued development of people management and interpersonal skills over the next 3-5 years. While currently in the process of obtaining his Australian Builders Registration, Isaac’s long-term goal includes forming his own entity and undertaking smaller construction projects, such as designing and building Granny Flats, Modular Buildings, and residential renovation/refurbishment works, alongside his full-time job. We thank Isaac for his contribution and hope and pray all the very best for him in all his personal and career endeavours. It is always wonderful to see our Past Students reaching for their purpose and SCBC is grateful to have been part of his journey!
